MEGA Visit 2011 (7 Schools in 1 day!)

The Undugu Mentorship Initiative embarked on its final 2011 mentorship session on Saturday, 1st October 2011. 8 schools currently benefiting from the programme were selected for the day and the mentorship team had been clustered into 4. Each cluster visite two closely located schools in the Taita region. The main focus of this visit was to have a session with candidates who would be sitting for their national examinations in 3 weeks time.

Briefing

There was a short briefing meeting on Thursday, 29th September 2011 at Delight and Grill, Harbour House from 6PM.

The Itinerary

The mentorship team converged at Makupa next to Elim Church on Saturday 1st October at 5.00am for the trip briefing. The clusters then boarded and travelled in 4 groups as listed below.

Cluster 2A diverte at Maungu town and headed to Kasigau to arrive at Moi High School at 8am. The 3 other groups proceeded to Wundanyi, expected to arrive at 8.30am.

Cluster 1A visited Kiwinda High school from 9am to 12pm, Mwangeka High School from 2pm to 5pm.
Cluster 1B visited Ngangao Secondary from 9am to 12pm, Canon Kituri High School from 2pm to 5pm.
Cluster 2A visited Moi High School Kasigau from 8.30am to 11.30am.
Cluster 2B visited Mghalu High School from 9am to 12pm,Dr Aggrey High School from 2pm to 5pm.

Convergence

Cluster 2A travelled from Kasigau to Wundanyi and joined Mwangeka Secondary and Dr Aggrey teams at 3pm. Meanwhile, Clusters 1A,1B and 2B successfully completed sessions by 5pm, and all groups converged at Wundanyi town.

A brief post-visit briefing followed.

Sunday Service

The team had been invited to attend JCC Wundanyi for a Sunday Worship service. The invitation attracted a large group of local youths with whom the team held a brief session with; talking out topical issues that face the youths and generally encouraging, chastening and motivating youths to embrace good morals.

Return trip

The mentorship team left Wundanyi at 1pm for the 3 hour journey arriving in Mombasa by 5pm, early enough to take a rest and gain new energy for the week that followed.
